Real Madrid has secured the services of Dean Huijsen, with the 20-year-old Bournemouth defender accepting an offer from the club. Dean Huijsen is set to sign a five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.
On Thursday, Real Madrid announced their readiness to trigger Dean Huijsen’s release clause, reportedly set at £50 million (€59.4m; $64.8m). According to The Athletic, Real Madrid plans to pay this amount in three installments.
The 20-year-old Dean Huijsen is considered one of Europe’s most talented young players, excelling not only in defense but also contributing effectively in attack. Real Madrid has finalized the agreement, securing his services until 2030.
Real Madrid also intends to include Huijsen in their squad for the Club World Cup, prompting them to swiftly finalize the deal, which has now been completed.
Reports suggest that Los Blancos are also set to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, though no official announcement has been made yet.
This season, Real Madrid has struggled to maintain their usual dominance, suffering significant injuries. As a result, they’ve failed to win any trophies so far and are urgently addressing their squad’s weaknesses.
Dean Huijsen had previously attracted interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, and Newcastle United, all of whom made efforts to sign him.
Huijsen joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2024, signing a six-year contract. Bournemouth reportedly paid around €15 million (£12.6m) to acquire him from Juventus.
Juventus had loaned him to Roma in Serie A, but he excelled in the Premier League last season, leading to his move to Real Madrid.
Born in Amsterdam, Huijsen represented the Netherlands at youth international levels before switching to play for Spain, for whom he has made two appearances.
