​Monster Love: The Maiden Champion of NetSurf Dota II Championship

The night of July 3, 2015 saw the final match of the NetSurf Dota II Championship. The Lower Bracket Final was played during the day between Shades Gaming and Sunset Assassins who fought for the one spot left in the finals and the day turned out in favour of Shades Gaming. Sunset Assassin, standing at the third place in the tournament went home with a cash prize of ₹ 10,000.00.

The much awaited final match was played between the Main Event finalist Monster Love and Shades Gaming. The match was played on a best of five series and the players surely gave the audience what they came for- an engaging and heated game. After a spectacular game of four rounds, Monster Love took away 3 rounds and won the match with 3-1. Shades Gaming received a cheque of ₹ 20,000.00 while Monster Love, the first champions of the Netsurf Dota 2 Season 1 took off with a Vanguard Trophy and a cheque of ₹ 50,000.00.

On 8th June, 2015 the Netsurf Dota 2 Championship started with the entry of 41 teams and 271 players. The Tournament LAN Events was started on the night of July 1, 2015 at Chanmari Y.M.A Hall, Aizawl. Right from the night of its commencement, the tournament saw a staggeringly huge number of viewers and fans who came to watch the match. It is worth mentioning that the final night saw the hall fully packed with keyed up E- Sport fans and supportive parents who came to watch their kids for the finals.

Lungmuana rocked the final night with the tournament's theme song " I'm on a Rampage". The participation of the cosplayers was also an eye feasting sight for the audience. The game was projected live on a big screen with interesting commentaries inbetween. Judging from the loud heers and applause from the audience, it was an obvious fact that E- sports has won the hearts of the Mizo youths.

After the match, a prize distribution ceremony followed. Zualtea of Monster Love, the Player of the Tournament, went home with a Dragon War Gaming Keyboard and Mouse. Laldinpuia of Monster Love was also chosen as Supporter of the Match and was presented a Dragon War Gaming Mouse and a mouse pad.

The tournament did not simply end with the giving away of cash prize and gift hampers. Netsurf and Mizo Dota 2 Community were on an all- time look out for outstanding and gifted players for recruitment in their teams throughtout the tournament. The names of these selected players will be announced next week. The organisers have taken steps for contract and training schemes for the players so that they will have the chance to step out in national and international level tournaments.
